Editing Part 4

When we thought originally about our shot ideas and what scenes to include within our video, we had the idea of reversing the footage at the end of the film. This we decided would show her memories throughout her journey in the song. It could almost a time of reflection.

We decided that we should try this idea out. We spent a VERY long time over doing this.

Firstly we had to copy our whole footage, then reverse every shot and speed every shot up. We thought that there would be a way to do it all at once. Once we found out how to do this we tried it, we then realised that this was a VERY bad idea. This is because our mac decided to crash. It caused all our original footage to become out of time, therefore we had to spend a lot of time over getting everything back into sync.

Audience Feedback
We got many people to look at what we had done, and they came back to us with some very helpful constructive criticism.
They suggested putting the reversed section into black and white so that it reinforced the idea of memories and reflecting.
Then another person suggested that we every now and then put some of the reverse into colour. This is because not all memories need to be in black and white. Also it made the black and white section not so boring and dull.

We made the colour parts of the reverse section exactly the same colours. Therefore each coloured shot would look the same. This made sure that it looked apealing to the eye. We did this by using the colour changer on the video inspector tool.

At the end of the film we wanted to come out the reverse section gently and slowly. We therefore slowed down the end shots and we gradually faded out from black and white to colour. We also therefore gradually faded out the music.

We also wanted to end on a shot that we possibly started with. But did not want to end on the exact same shot. Therefore we found a clever effect on the mac's, it flipped the shot that we started with.

We are overall very happy with our end product, we feel that it fits the genre of music extremely well and uses many of Goodwin's theory's to create a music video thats works very well.
