For example:

Take That
Their logo is very recognisable and has been around for years, when they first started as a band of 5 to now as a 4 and soon to be reunited as a 5 - with Robbie Williams. Therefore it is a logo that has stuck with the band throughout their career, and has created a great identity.

All their merchandise is designed for the purpose of maximising their fan base and getting the fans on board with their music, and hopefully keeping the fans for a long time if they purchase a t shirt for example they are most likely to keep it for a long time and therefore never really forget the band.
The Rolling Stones

Their logo is probably the most recognised out of any bands logo, this is because it has been one of the most controversial logo's, but this is good as their music is also quite controversial and they have a very particular audience. It makes them stand out as a band and it made them noticed. This was obviously good as many people became aware of their music through seeing the logo.
The logo is used over nearly all their merchandise and it takes centre stage on some of their album covers. Their brand is very strong and because it was controversial it got people talking about the band more ad more people became involved with the band and therefore the logo worked to their advantage.
These two bands both have the same type of branding. They both use distinctive colours to advertise themselves. Each band member has a colour, the Saturdays wear the same colour clothes during photo shoots and gigs etc. and the merchandise is personal to each member of each band.
wear. This is a brilliant idea as their audience can buy a hoodie that is like their favourite band mates.
Also when each band member has their own colour it is easier to remember which band member it is. Therefore the audience become again more involved with the band and get to know them more.
