Notes on our Camerwork and Editing Ideas

We have had many ideas on how to produce our Music video. We have had to think about how our camerawork and editing will match the genre of music and the piece of music itself.

I have conducted some research on our artists genre to see how they present their music video's. Drawing close attention to their camerawork and Editing techniques.

Laura Marling - Rambling Man

This video uses many close ups on the artist to show her feelings and emotions, as it is mainly narrative it has also used a variety of long and mid shots on the main narrative character. It has also created many iinteresting shots such as over the shoulder shots.

This has therefore helped me decide what we should do to make our music video fit the conventions on what our editing and camerawork ideas should be.

Camerawork
  • We should use quite a few long and mid shots, and use close ups to show emotion and feeling
  • We should use a variety of interesting artistic shots, e.g. Over the shoulder, Point of view.

Editing
  • We should use very soft and possibly slow transitions e.g. dissolves and fades
  • We should also make some of our shots interesting and creative by cutting the shot and placing it back into the shot.
